Diaper Output of the EBF Baby

Diaper Output is great (and free) tool a parent can use to know if a baby is getting enough to eat especially when feeding exclusively at the breast/chest during the first few weeks of life.

Normal bowel movements change within the first few days of a baby’s life from a sticky, black meconium to green to yellow and seedy as the milk supply increases in volume or “comes in”. See the below chart which shows how the number of wet and poopy diapers change and increase.

If you think your baby isn’t getting enough by exclusively feeding at the breast/chest, you can schedule a visit with a lactation consultant to discuss your concerns.
